Mobile Advertising Expected to Hit $5.7 Billion by 2014


While the growth in mobile advertising will lead to a strong market, it will still only represent about 1.5% of the total global spending on advertising, a new report says. The economic downturn has led to a downward trend for advertising, but the mobile market is bucking that trend, according to a new report from Jupiter Research.

The report, which is titled "Mobile Advertising: Delivery Channels, Business Models, & Forecasts," said the mobile advertising market is expected to grow to $5.7 billion by 2014. One of the main drivers of this growth is the fact that most consumers have mobile devices on them nearly all the time, and the always-connected nature of the device.

Jupiter Research said the response rate for mobile advertising has been higher than alternative methods, and the mobile Internet will be the most popular method of delivering mobile ads. While the growth in mobile advertising will lead to a strong market, it will still only represent about 1.5% of the total global spending on advertising, the report said.
